It’s troubling news that, despite the Until Dawn remake not being scheduled for release until
October, Ballistic Moon, the studio responsible for it, has already faced layoffs. Although
Ballistic Moon hasn’t issued an official statement, several developers have updated their LinkedIn
profiles to reflect that they have been terminated. Cassy Cornish mentioned that, like many in the
unpredictable gaming industry, she is unfortunately experiencing redundancy. Similarly, Harry
Williams expressed his regret over being laid off as a Technical Designer after dedicating two
years to the Until Dawn 2024 project, while also voicing his appreciation for his time at the
company.
At this time, no other team members have reported layoffs, but this situation adds to the broader
trend of substantial job losses in the gaming sector over the past year. Ballistic Moon, founded a
few years ago with input from a former Supermassive Games developer, is preparing to release its
first title with the Until Dawn remake. The game is slated for launch on October 4, though it
remains uncertain how these recent staffing changes might affect the release or the studio’s
operations.
In a similar situation, Ouka Studios, the creator of Visions of Mana, is also encountering
problems. Despite the game’s recent launch on Thursday, the studio is scheduled to shut down the
following day. This scenario raises concerns about the possibility of other studios facing similar
premature closures and layoffs in the near future.

Such a tough situation for both Ballistic Moon and Ouka Studios.
